Call for Concepts: Scholarships & Residencies 2022

Musicboard is pleased to inform you that the online application form for the Scholarships & Residencies funding programme has just been activated.

Up until the deadline on March 1, 2022 at 6 p.m., musicians from all genres of popular music who live and work in Berlin can apply for a scholarship or residency abroad.

Please note: Starting in 2022, all funding applications to Musicboard Berlin must be submitted by 6 p.m. on the day of the application deadline. Only fully completed applications that are submitted on time and electronically via the new application tool of Musicboard Berlin GmbH can be considered.

SCHOLARSHIPS

All project scholarships for the 2022 funding year will be awarded by the application deadline of March 1, 2022. Musicians and bands from Berlin can apply for a scholarship if they wish to advance artistically or professionally by means of a time-limited musical initiative. This year, Musicboard will again offer professional musician and band coaching for scholarship holders. We are pleased that in 2022, in addition to Jovanka von Wilsdorf (BMG, DIANA, freelance coach), Nicky Böhm (Atonal, Refuge Worldwide) will also be available as a mentor.

Detailed information and documents on the project scholarships can be found here.

RESIDENCIES

By the application deadline of March 1, 2022, Musicboard will grant seven international and tandem residencies in Ris-Orangis/Paris, Salvador de Bahia, Panicale, Havana, Kampala-Berlin, Tel Aviv-Berlin and Accra-Berlin. The tandem residency between Accra and Berlin will be awarded for the first time this year and will be carried out in cooperation with the local initiative Black Girls Glow and our festival Pop-Kultur.

Due to the highly dynamic Covid-19 situation, we reserve the right to award residencies conditionally and make adjustments to the terms of residencies in consultation with the applicants if necessary, or to carry them out digitally.

Detailed information and the documents for all announced residencies can be found here.

SECOND APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR RESIDENCIES IN 2022

There will again be a second application deadline on June 1, 2022 for additional residencies. Applications for the residencies at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles, Sternhagen Gut in the Uckermark, HELLERAU – European Center for the Arts, and Detroit and Berlin will be possible in the second funding round. The two Hinterhalt Commissions, awarded in cooperation with Deutsche Oper Berlin, will also be announced for the second application deadline on June 1, 2022.

Information on the residencies and the application is expected to be published four weeks before the application deadline.
