At the live venue Le Plan, there’s not only an eclectic stage program, but also plenty of expertise on how to take your own project to the next level. Develop your live sound a stone’s throw from Paris!
In cooperation with the live venue Le Plan, Musicboard Berlin grants one Berlin-based musician or duo a two to three-week residency in Ris-Orangis near Paris, France. The residency is particularly suitable for musicians who are looking to develop or implement a specific technical or artistic project using resources and equipment of the highest standard. The work-intensive residency is accompanied by a coaching through Le Studio des Variétés. The coaching takes up to three days and is tailored to the musician’s individual needs.
The residency in Le Plan is intended for artists of all pop music genres. With the term »pop music« Musicboard refers to all genres of popular music as well as cross-genre or experimental pop music that cannot be clearly assigned to the categories of jazz or classical and new music.

Le Plan is a renowned French live venue for rock, pop, and hip-hop in Ris-Orangis, near Paris. Aside from two concert halls, Le Plan offers rehearsal and studio spaces as well as residencies for musicians. During the residency in Ris-Orangis, the Musicboard residents can work in the studios and in the two different venues of Le Plan, according to availabilities. They will be professionally mentored by sound engineers and lighting technicians. The premises are extensively equipped technically and are thus well-suited for working on live sets, preparing an album or a tour, and for pre-production. Further equipment can be made available by Le Plan upon request. The residency in Ris-Orangis usually concludes with a live performance by the Musicboard resident at Le Plan.
The residency is accompanied by a coaching through Le Studio des Variétés in Paris. Le Studio des Variétés is a artist coaching center for pop and jazz musicians. Coaching at Le Studio des Variétés is always individually tailored to the musician’s needs and can, for example, encompass vocal training, stage performance, production, songwriting, media training, or help with project structuring. The coaches are well acquainted with the field, have artistic backgrounds themselves, and have all completed a special coaching training. In each round of funding, applicants may apply for more than one residency. In this case, separate applications must be submitted.
Only fully completed documents can be considered. All applications will be handled confidentially and used exclusively for decision-making and funding purposes. Publication of certain relevant details is granted by the applicant as part of the application process.
The residencies are awarded through Musicboard Berlin GmbH upon recommendation of an independent jury of Berlin-based pop experts and in consultation with the Senate Department for Culture and Community. Jury members are usually appointed for a period of three years. The following jury is appointed to the Scholarships & Residencies programme in 2023:
