We would like to invite you to the second Werkschau: Artists in Residence, taking place February 11, 2020, at Kantine am Berghain.
Last year, Musicboard Berlin granted eleven international residencies to Berlin musicians. In Salvador de Bahia, Detroit, Los Angeles, Tehran, Havana, Marseille, Paris, Panicale, Calcutta and, for the first time, in Manila and Kampala, Berlin artists from a wide range of pop-cultural scenes had the opportunity to find inspiration and develop their artistic skills.
Transnational residencies offer artists a precious space in which they can explore and develop their own work, away from the pressure of production and commercial exploitation. They also create the opportunity to engage with other musical cultures, to immerse themselves in local communities and to question their own habitual perspective. Not only do these personal encounters create lasting points of contact in the world, but also produce new shared knowledge and cultural sensitivity.
We would like to give space to these artistic processes in our second Werkschau. Five Berlin based artists will present material inspired by their residency abroad at Berghain Kantine on February 11, 2020.
