Minimal Schlager

As Minimal Schlager, Olga Karatzioti B and siblings Alicia Macanás and Francisco Parisi create synth-pop that deals with and dissects identities, sexual experiences and mental health. Shortly after the first Corona lockdown in Germany, the trio released their first single via Duchess Box Records. The band didn’t let the gruelling pandemic take away its creative energy – nothing could stop the band from releasing music again and again over the course of 2020, collaborating with acts like Eddie Argos and Gurr and completing their first EP. Although Minimal Schlager were only able to play three concerts that year, their ambitious artistic output earned them plenty of recognition within the scene within a short time. Minimal Schlager enrich the German pop landscape with a new perspective: powerful music with lyrics that are shaped by experiences of migration, mental health and one’s own dreams.

In 2021, Minimal Schlager was given one of two domestic residencies at HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts in Dresden. During their residency, Minimal Schlager was supported by a mentorship from Christian Morin.
