We’re back again! Together with RockCity Hamburg e.V., popNRW, and Verband für Popkultur in Bayern, Musicboard Berlin hosts the ZEITGEIST Showcase & Reception at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, UK. This year, four German newcomers will have the opportunity to present themselves to an international audience.
Since 2017, the ZEITGEIST – New German Talent Showcase & Reception takes place at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton. The international tour project of the German pop funding bodies Musicboard Berlin, popNRW, VPBy (Verband für Popkultur in Bayern) and RockCity Hamburg brings the German acts Aka Kelzz, Philine Sonny, Ferge X Fisherman and Brockhoff to British stages. On 17 May 2024 at 11:30 a.m., the partners, together with the GERMAN MUSIC EXPORT of Initiative Musik, host a joint reception with vegan hot dogs and drinks at Patterns Upstairs. The showcase will take place directly afterwards. In addition to performing at the joint showcase, the bands from Germany will also play a gig in the festival’s main programme.
This year, Musicboard presents singer-songwriter Aka Kelzz from Berlin. Aka Kelzz shares their own experiences with mental health, trauma and a new understanding of love, wrapped up in wavy beats, expressive words and tranquilizing vocals. In 2023, Aka Kelzz was awarded the Musicboard co-creation residency in Accra and Berlin together with Ria Boss from Accra.
The showcase is open to all festival ticket holders and delegates. The reception is exclusively open to festival delegates. Please register via Eventbrite.
