Nowadays, music is mostly marketed on the internet. Streams and social media allow young musicians and bands to establish direct connections to fans, management, labels and booking agencies. Stephanie von Beauvais‘s music-video workshop Shoot It Yourself provides up-and-coming acts with the necessary know-how for producing a music video. The workshop, which also serves as a networking platform for artists, covers all the necessary steps in the creation of a video: from brainstorming and budgeting to direction, image and lighting design, editing and post-production. Based on the participants’ initiative, the 2021 workshop was extended to include a collaborative live performance at the House of Music. The completed music videos were also presented to a larger audience at a screening.
