Outlook for 2023

With the end of the year approaching, Musicboard would like to look ahead to the new year and offer a preview of the upcoming calls for the Musicboard funding programmes. We are glad to be able to continue all funding programmes in 2023 in the same way as before, and thus be able to again support a variety of exciting event projects, effective PR label measures, as well as diverse artists and bands. Below you will find an overview of all funding deadlines in 2023.

PROJECT FUNDING

The project funding programmes Festival Funding, Karrieresprungbrett Berlin and Pop im Kiez will continue without any changes in 2023. The first application period for projects taking place in 2023 has already ended on November 1, 2022. The second application deadline for the programmes Karrieresprungbrett Berlin and Pop im Kiez for projects that either focus on up-and-coming musicians or the interaction between live music and its local surroundings is April 1, 2023.

LABEL FUNDING

In its Label Funding programme, the Musicboard will once again award indirect artist funding to Berlin label operators. As in 2022, the Label Funding will be awarded three times a year, with deadlines on February 15, May 15, and August 15, 2023. The online application for the first deadline in 2023 is expected to open around mid-January 2023.

SUPPORT TOUR FUNDING

We are pleased to point out that the Support Tour Funding programme will be continued in 2023. The programme supports up-and-coming Berlin pop musicians in their plans to go on national or international tour with a more established act. Ongoing applications are expected to be possible from mid-January 2023. At the time of application, the tour should start in 3 weeks at the earliest. The updated call for concepts for the Support Tour Funding programme will soon be available here.

SCHOLARSHIPS & RESIDENCIES

In 2023, the Musicboard will again award scholarships and residencies to musicians and bands of all genres of pop music. While the Project Scholarships for the realisation of a self-chosen project are awarded only once a year with an application deadline on March 1, 2023, the Musicboard residencies will be advertised in two funding rounds with application deadlines on March 1 and June 1, 2023. It will soon be possible to find out here which residencies can be applied for at which application deadline. In 2023, new jury members will be appointed to recommend the scholarships and residencies. Details about the new jury will be provided with the call for concepts in January.

Up-to-date information and Musicboard’s call for concepts are mostly published 4 to 6 weeks before the respective application deadline – as usual the Musicboard informs via its newsletter and social media channels.

We are looking forward to your project ideas and applications and wish you a relaxing winter break and a happy new year!
