Karmatürji is the musical project of Ceyhun Kaya and Petra Nachtmanova in collaboration with the well-known Berliner DJ and activist Ipek Ipekcioglu. Their sound is mostly electronic and partially acoustic; their melodies and lyrics are Anatolian and Eastern European. They refer to the realities of the two largest immigrant groups in Germany. Which sounds do we long for in the 21st century, and how do they interact with our history and identity? Karmatürji is something new but accessible for everyone.
For 2018, Karmatürji is receiving a grant in the amount of 6,500 euros to work on a quadrilingual electronic album.
