JakoJako

Unlike many self-taught artists, JakoJako’s musical journey began with a profound knowledge of sound that she could acquire as a trained nurse during the long shifts of on-call duty. Countless hours of reading literature on electronic music, synthesisers, sound synthesis and design created the basis for JakoJako’s ability to now translate her own visions into music. JakoJako usually starts her work off with a specific mood, using synthetic development and modular exploration to question the limits of machine-made music: »Depending on how you configure your system, you can design a completely different instrument every time.« JakoJako is fascinated by those surprising moments of modular synthesis that she uses in her melodic-technoid studio productions and live sets. When JakoJako is not diving deep into her own productions, her expertise is put to use advising well-established artists on their own systems at Berlin’s synth-mecca SchneidersLaden.

JakoJako is receiving a grant in the amount of 3,000 euros for the production and release of an album as well as measures necessary to professionalise her musical career.
