Gregor Dys considers himself a sound researcher who transfers (natural) processes, ideas and emotions into soundscapes. Forming the basis of his acoustic storytelling are experiments with guitar, modular synthesiser and other acoustic instruments. Sometimes Gregor Dys works alone, sometimes he collaborates with other musicians; sometimes he is inspired purely aurally, sometimes by photo and video art works, film soundtracks, theatre productions or DJ mixtapes. The result is a blend of electronica, ambient and downtempo combined influences from post-rock, lo-fi and new music. While Gregor Dys almost constantly experiments with unconventional listening habits, his music still tells quiet and abstract stories – about memories, regret, melancholy, rapprochement and distance.
In 2021, Gregor Dys is receiving a grant of 4,000 euros to work on an album.
