At the showcase festival and conference Waves Vienna from September 7-9, 2023, professionals, artists and music enthusiasts meet around the 9th district of Vienna to discover newcomers of international caliber.
GERMAN SHOWCASE
Together with Initiative Musik, popNRW, Pop-Büro Region Stuttgart, RockCity Hamburg and the Association for Pop Culture in Bavaria, Musicboard Berlin presents exciting acts at the German Showcase on all three festival days.
From Berlin, Güner Künier, Meagre Martin and Shybits take the stage.
Güner Künier’s music is shaped by the sound of her voice and a minimalism that combines industrial beats, lo-fi guitars and experimental synthesiser sounds. Known for her raw and gritty aesthetic, the singer-songwriter explored her post-migrant identity in her commissioned work for the 2022 edition of Pop-Kultur Festival. The same year she received a Musicboard scholarship.
Musician and songwriter Sarah Martin founded the indie project Meagre Martin in 2021. With a lo-fi take on Americana, Meagre Martin represents the culmination of redeeming experiences and a lyricism that describes new facets of nostalgia and suffering. Apart from Waves Vienna, they will also play live at Pop-Kultur Festival 2023!
Shybits is a Berlin based trio made up of friends Liam (UK), Piero (Italy), and Megan (South Africa). The band have been playing their well-crafted mix of post punk/catchy new-wave pop since 2018. In 2022, Shybits released the debut album ›Body Lotion‹, which reminds of post punk and 90s alt-rock. The band is among Musicboard’s scholarship holders in 2023.
In addition to the Berlin acts, our cooperation partners will present outstanding newcomers from their federal states.

RECEPTION & SPEEDMEETING
At the joint German Showcase Reception on Friday, September 8, professionals and artists are warmly invited to mix and mingle. At the Meet the Germans speed meeting, the participants also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other and meet representatives of the various federal state funding agencies and the Initiative Musik.
