Güner Künier

Güner Künier’s music is shaped by the sound of her voice and a minimalism that combines industrial beats, lo-fi guitars and experimental synthesiser sounds. Known for her raw and gritty aesthetic, the singer-songwriter has roots in Izmir, grew up in Flensburg and now lives in Berlin. The musician, who also works as an actress, explored her post-migrant identity in her commissioned work for the 2022 edition of the Pop-Kultur festival, and her debut album ›Aşk‹ also deals with the question of what it means to grow up as a Turkish woman in a German society. In synth-wave tracks and Turkish lyrics, Güner Künier creates an echo of the psychedelic 70s with an undeniably contemporary, brutal vibe. Self-realised, free and feminist: Güner Künier knows no boundaries, lives the extreme and loses herself in the process.

Güner Künier receives a grant of 5,000 euros for the production and mastering of an album in 2022.
