Güner Künier

Güner Künier comes from the Turkish port of Izmir. In the early 1990s, she moved to Germany with her family. She started playing the guitar at the age of ten, and by thirteen she was already playing in bands and organising gigs. When she turned eighteen, she initially stopped making music and began studying industrial engineering. However, after completing her studies in 2016 – Künier has since moved to Berlin – she is once again focusing on her art and her music. She has been releasing videos of live performances, music videos and has brought out an EP; she also often performs live. Künier released her debut album, ›Aşk‹ (Turkish for »love«), in December 2022. Güner Künier layers her voice over old-school and industrial beats, accompanied by lo-fi guitars and synthesiser sounds. She sings in English and Turkish. ›Aşk‹ is inspired by the psychedelic sound of the 1970s, synthwave from the 1980s and contemporary styles. Her unique sound is a result of this mix of genres.
