DONBASGIRL is a new face in the emerging generation of Ukrainian acts who create contemporary pop including Alina Pash, alyona alyona, and Jerry Heil. Her sound is characterised by deep bass and Ukrainian folklore. Originally from the industrial coal-mining region of Donbas, she is now based in Berlin, where she works with producer Jakob Hegner. Her music is meant to give encouragement, send feminist messages, and push for self-actualisation.
DONBASGIRL receives a grant of 5,000 euros in 2023. In the course of the grant DONBASGIRL receives coaching from Jovanka von Wilsdorf.
