Deaf Kat Night

Klark Wolke aka Deaf Kat Night (DKN) was born in a small village near Schwerin. The deaf musician was able to feel music for the first time at age 12. DKN moved to Berlin in 2010 to be able to experience the city’s diversity, and with support from the association Die Visionäre e. V., was able to perform for the first time in November 2014, presenting her own music and lyrics to a sizable audience. Since then, she’s had about 35 appearances at various festivals throughout Germany. DKN says of herself: »I’m happy as a human being. I can say that I’m deaf and happy. But that’s just one side of things, my personal feelings. On the other side, there are so many barriers that we have to experience as deaf people, which of course doesn’t make me happy. Thanks to my music, I get to process my barriers through my lyrics, sharing them with the outside world.«

For 2019, Deaf Kat Night is receiving a grant in the amount of 3,500 euros to shoot a professional music video.
