Call for Concepts: Scholarships & Residencies 2021 & New Application Deadline

Musicboard is pleased to announce that the online application form for the Scholarships & Residencies funding programme has just been activated. Up until the deadline on March 1, 2021, musicians from all genres of popular music who live and work in Berlin can apply for a scholarship or residency abroad. In addition, we would like to announce a new application deadline on June 1, 2021.

SCHOLARSHIPS & RESIDENCIES

All regular scholarships and some of the residencies of the 2021 funding year will be awarded by the application deadline of March 1, 2021. Berlin musicians or bands who wish to develop their artistic skills or professionalise their music projects can apply for a scholarship. Additionally, Musicboard is tendering six international residencies in Marseille, Paris, Panicale, Havana, Kampala and Tel Aviv as of March 1, 2021. The Tel Aviv residency, which had its first edition as a digital residency in 2020, will again be awarded as a two-part tandem residency. The outcome of the residency will be presented as part of Pop-Kultur Festival 2021.

Musicboard is committed to promoting transcultural exchange even in times of limited mobility. Due to the current highly dynamic Covid-19 situation, we reserve the right to award residencies conditionally and make adjustments to the terms of residencies in consultation with the applicants if necessary. Self-organised digital co-productions between Berlin musicians and international musicians can be applied for within the framework of a scholarship.

COACHINGS

In 2021, Musicboard will continue to offer special coaching sessions. Musicboard scholarship holders have the opportunity to receive individual band and artist coaching with Jovanka von Wilsdorf in addition to their scholarship. As in previous years, there will be the possibility to extend the residencies in Marseille and Paris by an artist coaching with our partners from Le Studio des Variétés in Paris.

ADDITIONAL APPLICATION DEADLINE 2021

We would like to announce that there will be a second application deadline this year on June 1, 2021 for additional selected residencies. The two Hinterhalt Commissions, awarded in cooperation with Deutsche Oper Berlin, will also be offered at the second application deadline on June 1. Information on applications and the additional residencies is expected to be published in April 2021.
