Berus

Before starting his most personal music project under the stage name Berus, the Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist and producer took a few detours. He toured the world with various bands, produced artists of different genres and released several EPs as Frag Maddin on reputable house and techno labels. Now, in contrast to his previous club-oriented drops, Berus is taking some risks with a new chapter in neo-soul and hip-hop. Free of filters, the musician candidly circles around his own identity honestly. Having grown up in the suburbs of Eastern Anatolia as a part of the politically and religiously persecuted Zaza minority, Berus has now made a homecoming of sorts – musically, as well – with ›Blue Hope.‹ Surrounded by a mix of featured newcomers and old friends, the album draws inspiration from a broad catalogue of jazz, rock and underground as Berus embarks on an endless, almost diary-like journey of self-disclosure and identity as well as hope.

Berus receives a grant of 6,000 euros in 2022 for the realisation of an EP.
