Around a thousand musicians almost lost their rehearsal space when the owner of the former office building on Buchberger Straße in Berlin-Lichtenberg gave notice to his main tenant in the summer of 2019. In order to prevent the loss the many rehearsal spaces in the Rockhaus, Musicboard Berlin and the Senate Department for Culture and Europe began talks with the owner. In a joint initiative, the renting of the building by GSE gGmbH was successfully negotiated. In 2023 as in previous years, GSE’s administrative costs for the building are covered by Musicboard.
