With DJing as an artistic tool, Banu’s work can be located somewhere between sound, music, research and activism. Originally from south-eastern Turkey, Banu now lives in Berlin. Illegal rave experiences in the techno scene define Banu’s style in terms of electronic sounds, often surprising and trippy, yet groovy. Her research practice influences the quality of her sets, which always make for a fluid, energetic and moving dance floor. From techno to experimental electronic music, Banu creates a special connection between music and sound art. Banu believes in the political possibilities of sound and music, using both as tools of empowerment for different communities as well as members of socially marginalised groups.
In 2021, Banu is receiving a grant of 8,000 euros to work on her debut album, to be released on vinyl.
