As a DJ and electronic music producer, Banu defines herself between music, sound, art, research and activism using music production and DJ’ing as an artistic tool. Her illegal rave experiences defined her taste in electronic music – mainly techno. Banu’s style is always surprising, trippy but groovy. Her research practice influences the quality of her selection process assuring a fluid, energetic and moving dance floor. In a practice based artistic approach, Banu creates uncanny experiences in her installations and performances while designing a distinct transition assembling music and sound art. She believes in the political possibilities of sound and music, and utilizes both as an empowerment tool for different communities and minority groups. She demands to work only with BIPOC, women, LGBTQI* communities. She has a monthly show at Refuge Worldwide Radio, ›Sonic Journey‹, and is lecturer in Sonic Studies at Universität der Künste Berlin.
