ANNAVR

Berlin based ANNAVR is a pianist, producer and singer shrugging off the clichés of the music industry. Growing up in rural and coastal post-socialist Eastern Germany, she begged her mum for classical piano lessons at the age of nine and hasn’t stopped playing since. Quickly she was supported by junior talent promotion, later studying jazz piano in Amsterdam and New York. Her quest for freedom in the classical, pop and jazz genres became essential to her artistic process. Tired of the lonely practice routine as a pianist, ANNAVR started getting into electronic music production and has gone on to create music for films of major fashion brands. Film music seemed fertile ground for interweaving the piano of her formative years with trap beats, radio-friendly toplines and sounds from the electronic underground, forming a landscape in which »Philip Glass, Rihanna and Bernini sculptures can freely collide.« Lauded by The Fader, i-D, Clash and Rolling Stone, ANNAVR has been receiving a lot of love on British radio. Following her live debut at Berlin’s Berghain Kantine in 2017, the highlights of her performances so far have been invitations from TED and Deutsches Symphonie Orchester as well as her London live debut at Notting Hill Arts Club.

For 2020, ANNAVR is receiving a grant in the amount of 5,500 euros to finalise her debut album ›III: Salvation.‹
