Born to Bulgarian parents in Austria, Alexandra Ivanova grew up curious to meet and understand the »Other« – in herself, in society or in culture. In her compositions, Alexandra creates conversations between neo-classical, rap, jazz, Oriental and Afro-Cuban music – reflecting her experience living on three continents and speaking six languages fluently. As an unconventional musician, she invites the listener to look at the world from different points of view: from the East, the West or from somewhere in between. Her jazz-rap pieces address topics of social justice and privilege, and relate large-scale failures of humanity back to the most individual level – linking different people on the basic struggles common to all mankind. Classically trained in Austria since the age of 8 and jazz since 16, Alexandra has been mentored by Tarek Yamani. She has toured with her music in across Saudi Arabia, Iceland, Europe and the Gulf. Her debut album ›Beauty in Chaos‹ will be released in fall 2023.
In 2023, Alexandra Ivanova is granted the residency in Havana, Cuba, which she will take up in 2024.
