Singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Johanna Amelie resides in Berlin. She writes folky, ethereal, and contemporary songs about anything that stirs her emotions, whether it be about love, loss, or plastic pollution. Johanna Amelie could not keep her hands off musical instruments even as a young child. She started learning to play the violin at age 3, then moved on to the viola, saxophone, piano, and flute. Johanna received a Regina Spektor CD as a gift for her 17th birthday, and she knew right away that she wanted to be a singer-songwriter. Ahe studied music production, with a focus on singing, with Jocelyn B Smith. Johanna now performs solo and with her band across the globe. On stage, she performs on a variety of instruments and works with renowned producers like Gordon Raphael (of The Strokes) and Pola Roy. Johanna Amelie is a member of fem*ergy collective and Music Women* Germany and is committed to Gender Equality in the music industry.
In 2023, Johanna Amelie is granted the residency at Le Plan in Ris-Orangis/Paris, France.
