Born in Cape Verde, Creole singer Vera Tavares captivates audiences with her powerful stage presence and poppy, jazzy, soulful voice. When Vera Tavares sings, she instantly transports a certain feeling to her listeners – effortlessly and seemingly unexpectedly. She perfected her ability to entertain the crowd in 2008 on a tour with the band Matutaía in Brazil. Since then, she’s been living in Berlin, and since 2017, she’s performed her own songs in countries such as Switzerland, Spain, Ghana – and of course Germany.
Vera Tavares receives a grant of 6,000 euros in 2022 to produce five singles as part of the ›MUDJER‹ project.
