Half-German. half-Malaysian vocalist and DJ Soraya grew up in between cultures, heavily inspired by the variety of genres encompassing soundsystem club music from the UK, having lived and studied there for six years. With lyrical topics ranging from love to sadness, from partying to sexism and beyond, Soraya’s club tracks are a mix of serious self reflective songs and rather carefree ones simply meant for dancing. Soraya’s self-released singles have been on playlists such as Spotify Discover Weekly, Release Radar and NME New Bangers. Soraya has also released DJ mixes for the likes of NTS, Rinse, Hör and co-founded the platform and party series Kontinuum.
Soraya receives a grant of 6,500 euros in 2022 for the realisation of the EP ›No Words‹ and to carry out promotional and marketing activities.
