Sarah Martinus

In her art, Sarah Martinus works with subtle energies of the body and their complex interactions within the environment. Through abstract images, sounds, rituals and happenings, the Australian-born artist explores the nature of inner experience, dreams and consciousness. She is equally interested in metaphysical as well as non-dual and paradoxical phenomena – in the psyche, spirit, emotions and multitudes within the individual and the community. Using electronic music, Sarah Martinus transports her audience into rave-like states that allow her to explore and reinvent the relationship between demystified spirituality and the modern machine. She presented her research into shamanic perspectives on digitalisation at the CTM festival’s MusicMakers Hacklab in Berlin in 2018.

In 2021, Sarah Martinus was given one of the two domestic residencies at Sternhagen Gut in the Uckermark region of Germany. During her residency, Sarah Martinus was mentored by Gudrun Gut.
