Rebetiko Underground Sound of Forced Migration

Developed by musicians who emigrated from Asia Minor to present-day Greece because of their ethnic-religious affiliation, the cross-genre art form of rebetiko is now considered an intangible cultural heritage. The two-day Rebetiko Underground Sound of Forced Migration aims to create multicultural spaces and an alternative meeting place for people who have been affected by immigration – whether directly or as potential allies.

With live performances, video art and an exhibition, the Rebetiko Underground Sound of Forced Migration 2022 was held at West Germany. Among the participating artists were Krista Papista, Ceytengri and Ege Dündar.
