As a collective and international network of creatives from a wide range of disciplines, CO:QUO has taken on the task of critically questioning the social status quo in the interaction of art, music, science and technology. With the virtual event series Music Futures & Simulacra, the collective opened three forward-thinking discussions via Zoom in June 2021. Along with invited panellists such as Mat Dryhurst and Zola Jesus, the audience was encouraged to imagine future scenarios for the music industry. Symbols and signs as so-called simulacra formed the starting point. What happens when virtual images take the place of real objects? In addition to NFTs and avatars as tools and opportunities for a music industry of the future, Music Futures & Simulacra also focussed on their associated risks.
