Modha

The first encounter of the members of Modha was rather unexpected, crossing paths as hired musicians playing in a live band. At the time, the duo was hustling to make a living off their craft as producers and session players for the studio and the stage. Being on tour together, Dhanya and Max became good friends, bonding over a shared love for jazz virtuoso Robert Glasper and hip-hop beat-making. Shortly thereafter, the idea for Modha was born: a new creative platform to empower their own artistry. Their common ground was the desire to find their own voices as artists and performing original music live. Back in Berlin, they got to work, producing their first sketches and fleshing them out into full songs with a vast group of befriended instrumentalists and vocalists – artists who share the quest for creative realisation beyond the music industry’s expectations.

Modha receive a grant of 6,000 euros in 2022 to create their debut album.
