With the neologisms »sun-drunk sound« and »solar-based hip hop«, Kaleo Sansaa tries to capture the essence of her music: a sound that seems to come from the heart of the sun – genuine, honest and meditative. As her greatest source of inspiration, for Kaleo Sansaa the sun represents a pure way of expression and a form of faith that is never truly absent. In Kaleo Sansaa’s music, sun and time collide, san and saa (Swahili, Engl.: time) fuse into hypnotic, experimental hip hop beats and poetic lyrics. After releasing two EPs, Kaleo Sansaa released her debut album in March 2021. In eleven songs, ›SOLARBASED KWING‹ describes moments of self-empowerment, the healing from trauma and the responsibility to face one’s life with radical self-love and fulfillment. In 2022 the musician is working on her second album.
In July 2022 Kaleo Sansaa was on tour with Noga Erez and therefore received Musicboard’s Support Tour Funding.
