Julia Mikulec aka JUWEEL is a rapper, singer, producer and quintessential artist. Growing up in France, she began singing and playing the keyboard. Before moving to Germany almost ten years ago to complete her bachelor’s degree in popular music in Freiburg, she studied clarinet, music theory and piano at the conservatory in Ferney-Voltaire, France. After working as a vocal teacher in music schools taking part in various bands, she finally released singles of her own on Mosaik Records, the indie label she founded. In 2020, JUWEEL moved to Berlin in order to collaborate with other musicians. She became part of Beat Unit e. V. and worked with various producers such as Kasuz, Yuki, Sixcube, and Lai Raw. In her trap-infused yet melodic sound, she alternates between her two mother tongues as well as between rap and singing. Her bilingual EP ›Chaostherapie‹ was released in spring 2022.
JUWEEL receives a grant of 5,000 euros in 2022 to work on new song material. In the course of her grant period, JUWEEL receives coaching from Jovanka von Wilsdorf.
