Gewalt

Berlin-based band Gewalt condenses in most-radical tongues the impossibility and inescapability of human existence. This is the nucleus of the art of Helen Henfling, Patrick Wagner and Samira Zahidi. The facade is made of machine beats, clinking guitars, din, the beauty of sonic pressure and the absence of any light. That pretty much smells like industrial and noise. But behind this facade are countless questions such as: »Can we dance misery?« or »Can we feel and hear every word of Gewalt at the same time?« Indeed, Gewalt seem to be more interested in artists such as Daft Punk, Einstürzende Neubauten, Klaus Kinski and Pharell Williams than into more obvious picks like Ministry or Big Black.

For 2019, Gewalt is receiving a grant in the amount of 6,500 euros to work on their live performance and new material.
