Femme Bass Mafia is a mentorship programme for women*, trans and non-binary people, offering safer spaces for participants learn and develop DJ techniques and open up new possibilities. Based on a concept of community that emancipates itself from a distinction in sex or gender, Femme Bass Mafia focuses on mutual empowerment in weekly theory and practice sessions by FLINTA for FLINTA. The competitive pressure of the scene is thwarted by reinforcing a cooperative teaching environment. Femme Bass Mafia imagines an artistic diversification of DJing while also pushing for a solidarity-based music industry of the future. For the implementation of the programme in 2021, Femme Bass Mafia focussed on collaborations with platforms such as Refuge Worldwide and HÖR Berlin.
