DFRNT

Grandma and Grandpa want one thing at all costs: to give their grandson piano lessons. They put aside the money to drag him to the opera on a regular basis. They agree: there is no avoiding music for Robin Küpper. Despite their good intentions, it nearly backfired: All the whirlwind and pressure almost took away little Robin’s desire and joy. But things turned out as they did, just as grandma and grandpa wanted, more or less. At the age of eight, Robin already published a fantasy language freestyle on YouTube, followed by cover songs via karaoke instrumentals via Sing-Star microphone, and as the logical next step: Auto-Tune and electronic beats. Robin spends hours and days in front of the computer, and every cent he saves goes back into music. Nowadays, Robin is a self-employed audio engineer. On his first release as DFRNT, he combines a warm, new-school R&B sound with hard, mids-heavy 808s and cloudy vocals.

DFRNT receives a grant of 6,000 euros in 2022 for the mastering and promotion of his album.
