Silla Thorarensen and Julius Rothlaender are pretty best friends: they shamble through life together, don’t take themselves too seriously, and quarrel with their own imperfections, which at the same time they see as reinforcing qualities. The two founded their band with the intention of trying out instruments they had not learned to play. Brussel Sprouts International, or short: BSÍ, is a playground that programmatically follows the title of their own debut album: Sometimes depressed … but always antifascist. With sadness on one side and raw energy and joie de vivre on the other, BSÍ sound equally like heartbreak and melancholy as riot grrrl lofi-cute punk. BSÍ is a place where vulnerability and intimacy meet sunny summer days, and salty knees team up with the idea of a feminist world revolution.
In May 2022 BSÍ were on tour with Turbostaat and therefore received Musicboard’s Support Tour Funding.
