Inclusive participation in pop culture is one of Musicboard’s main objectives. In order to pursue this goal, Musicboard in cooperation with experts regularly offers qualification programmes that train funding recipients and other interested parties. Together with Initiative Barrierefrei Feiern, Musicboard is inviting to an online session on Accessible Event Planning & Inclusive Project Management on 27 February 2024 from 6–8 p.m.
The Initiative Barrierefrei Feiern is a nationwide collective of people with and without disabilities that advocates for barrier-free cultural offerings. Through the consulting agency WIR KÜMMERN UNS, experts in their own right are provided to advise and support event organizers, cultural institutions, municipalities, collectives, clubs and associations in the development of inclusive cultural strategies.
In the cross-thematic workshop, the speakers convey the basics of barrier-free event planning and demonstrate in a practice-oriented manner how cultural offerings can also be designed to be accessible for people with physical or sensory disabilities:
What is the difference between inclusion and accessibility? When exactly is an event barrier-free? What does the implementation of accessibility measures cost? And what do visitors with disabilities want? The experts follow these and other questions and provide an insight into the reality of life of people with disabilities with personal and multi-perspective anecdotes, who demand a self-determined life and cultural participation for all.
The online session is primarily addressed to project organisers who intend to apply for Musicboard’s project funding. Further interested Berlin-based event organisers are welcome to participate. Participation is free of charge.
The event is held in English spoken language, a German version of the event is taking place on 27 February 2024 at 3 p.m.
