Residency Details
The idea of the residency is to promote unique exchange and collaboration between musicians from Israel and musicians from Berlin. As a tandem residency, Musicboard Berlin enables an artist or duo from Berlin to spend six weeks in Tel Aviv and in the other direction, an Israeli artist or duo to spend six weeks in Berlin. Besides the opportunity for an artistic collaboration, both residents will become co-hosts in their own city, giving guests from the other city direct access to the creative scenes and artistic networks on site.

In Tel Aviv, the Berlin artist lives and works at Yafo Creative, an artist guest house in the heart of Jaffa. As a multi-disciplinary production hub, Yafo Creative serves as a creative center for a community of Israeli and international artists. There, the Berlin artist will be matched with an Israeli artist. This artist-tandem will be given access to working/rehearsal space and resources to develop collaborative work as well as engage with the community. They will receive ongoing support and guidance from Jonathan Lipitz, Culture entrepreneur, owner of the Kuli Alma Club and Yellow Brick Productions. First results of this collaboration will be presented by the end of the Tel Aviv residency at Kuli Alma.

In order to continue the artistic collaboration that has developed, Musicboard Berlin will subsequently invite the artist from Israel for a residency in Berlin. A presentation of the collaborative productions at the 2020 edition of Musicboard’s Pop-Kultur Festival  (26.08. – 28.08.2020) in Berlin is possible.

Musicboard’s Contributions
Musicboard covers the costs associated with both stays. This includes round-trip travel costs as well as food, accommodation, working/rehearsal space, and project-related costs.
Note: The Musicboard is responsible for the accommodation of the Tel Aviv artist in Berlin, the Berlin artist has no organisational role.
