Thom Lucero is an American multidisciplinary artist, musician, composer, and writer who is currently based in Berlin. Growing up in California and pursuing an education in visual art there, he maintained a strong connection to the underground music scene, spending his free time playing in bands, experimenting with 4-track tape machines, and co-organizing tours across the United States. After moving to Europe in 2020, he decided to foreground his musical pursuits, entering a Master’s course in music at Goldsmiths University of London. Broadly speaking, Thom’s work is interested in absurd and unexpected juxtapositions: between the mundane and the sublime, the digestible and the challenging, the serious and the silly, the written word and the guttural sound. He’s particularly interested in the fictional potential of music, and is currently pursuing the idea of science-fictional world-building by way of short instrumental compositions.
In 2024, T. Lucero’s Best Café receives a Musicboard scholarship of 4,500 euros to work on a new album.
