Musicboard presents Matching Outfits at SPOT Festival

SPOT is an internationally renowned showcase festival in Aarhus, Denmark, which provides a platform for up-and-coming artists and new trends, especially for the Danish and Nordic music scene. It has been a recurring festival since 1994, spreading new music throughout the city of Aarhus in the spring. It brings promising newcomers to the city’s stages and creates a meeting place for business professionals from the Danish and international music industry with the associated SPOT+ conference programme. Like Berlin, Aarhus is also part of the Music Cities Network, which promotes cooperation and communication between music cities worldwide.

Since 2024, the Musicboard has been collaborating with the SPOT Festival to present Berlin-based musicians in Aarhus, opening pathways to the Scandinavian market. For the 30th edition of the festival, taking place on May 2nd and 3rd, 2025, the Musicboard will bring the band Matching Outfits to SPOT. Matching Outfits are a trio of adopted Berliners whose warped, wistful take on indie pop has been compared to a »a Super 8 film from the family attic«. Singer Linnea Mårtensson’s lyrics capture life’s major losses and minor inconveniences in gut-wrenching, occasionally hilarious detail, while dulcet harmonies morph into discordant freakouts and shout-along choruses. Their debut cassette ›Band Made Out Of Sand‹ caught the attention of cult radio station WFMU as well as New Jersey label Bar/None (Yo La Tengo, The Feelies), which signed the band and put out their Emperor X-produced breakup lament ›No Whiskey‹ in January 2025. The band does not wear matching outfits, except when they do. Matching Outfits will be performing at SPOT Festival on Saturday, 3 May 2025 at 3:30 p.m. at Radar.
