In the second funding round of 2024, Musicboard Berlin is awarding residencies in Germany and abroad, the co-creation residency Detroit / Berlin, and the Hinterhalt Commission in cooperation with the Deutsche Oper Berlin.
In the second funding round 2024, with an application deadline on 1 June, a total of 157 applications were received from Berlin musicians and bands. Musicboard awards international residencies at Villa Aurora in Los Angeles and at the concert venue Le Plan in Ris-Orangis/Paris, as well as the co-creation residency Detroit / Berlin. The co-creation residency partner from Detroit will be selected shortly by Musicboard’s partner, the Detroit-Berlin-Connection. Musicboard further awards two residencies at Sternhagen Gut in the Uckermark region and two residencies at HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts in Dresden. For the first time, one of the residencies at HELLERAU was reserved exclusively for musicians with children.

The Hinterhalt Commission in cooperation with Deutsche Oper Berlin was awarded to Shlomi Moto Wagner. The commissioned work includes the composition for a music theatre production in the series ›Aus dem Hinterhalt‹ in the Tischlerei as well as its conception and realisation.
The residencies and the Hinterhalt Commission were recommended by a jury of Berlin pop experts, consisting of Aida Baghernejad (cultural journalist), Ebru »Ebow« Düzgün (artist, label owner, manager, event organiser), Ji-Hun Kim (Editor-in-chief Das Filter, freelance lecturer, DJ and music producer), Misla Tesfamariam (artist manager, label owner), Thien Nguyen (label owner, DJ, music and film producer), and Yeşim Duman (curator, moderator, DJ).
