New cooperation: Neuköllner Oper

Musicboard Berlin collaborates for the first time with Neuköllner Oper, supporting the participation of Berlin-based vocal ensemble B O D I E S in the new production HUNTER. The project fosters dialogue between pop music and music theatre, strengthening interdisciplinary exchange.

B O D I E S, the a cappella ensemble founded by Kat Frankie, has sold out major concert halls in recent years. The eight Berlin-based singers – some of whom have previously been supported by Musicboard – bring their voices in HUNTER into dialogue with original compositions by director Liesa Van der Aa, songs by Björk, and electronic sounds.

Flemish director, composer and multidisciplinary artist Liesa Van der Aa stages HUNTER as a basketball game: A play with rules, the consequences of rules and the human condition. A play about one of the most discussed topics in opera: the state of the heart. Inspired by one of the most iconic works of contemporary pop music, ›Homogenic‹ by the Icelandic singer and composer Björk.

The premiere on 11 September 2025 is sold out, with a limited number of tickets possibly available at the box office on the evening. Further performances take place throughout September.

A production by Neuköllner Oper, in cooperation with Musicboard Berlin and One Trick Pony, funded by the Capital Cultural Fund.
