DJ, Producer and purveyor of nocturnal frequencies, Luna Vassarotti is a italian multidisciplinary artist and founder of Berlin-based record label, Instruments of Discipline. As one half of the experimental techno noise live project and production unit OPERANT, she creates productions between power-electronics, drum and bass, gabber and trap, with distorted vocals and performative elements exploring themes of gender, body morphology and its ability to be altered through violent reconstruction. As a solo artist, her sets and material mirror the aesthetic of the IOD label roster, characterised by elements of drum and bass, trap, noise & industrial music, woven into strains of hard, fast techno, that hold an intense and playful edge.
Luna Vassarotti is awarded the 2024 co-creation residency in Kampala, Uganda and Berlin, Germany, under which she collaborates with Kampala-based Sam Karugu.
