From October 1 to 3, 2026, Waves Vienna Festival will put Vienna in the spotlight of the international music industry for three days. As part of the German Showcase, Musicboard Berlin presents two Berlin-based acts supported through its funding programmes: Eilis Frawley and Lyhre. The festival provides them with the opportunity to present their music to an international audience and connect with music industry professionals.
German Showcase is a collaboration between German Music Export of Initiative Musik and regional pop music funding organisations including Musicboard Berlin, popNRW (Landesmusikrat NRW), POP-BÜRO Region Stuttgart, RockCity Hamburg e.V., and Verband für Popkultur in Bayern (VPBy). The aim of the collaboration is to strengthen the presence of German music abroad and support musicians in their international careers.
MUSICBOARD BERLIN PRESENTS EILIS FRAWLEY AND LYHRE
The solo project of Eilis Frawley (pronounced Aylish) combines direct and unforgiving spoken word amidst kraut-like rhythms. With a focus on social structures, feminism, mental health, and storytelling she speaks truth to creative insecurities, personal tragedies, and the impacts of living abroad. Her debut album ›Fall Forward‹ was released in 2025, via Sinnbus Records. Previously she has released two EPs ›Never Too Emotional‹ and ›Adult Life‹ via the UK label Reckless Yes. Eilis Frawley is a classically trained musician from Adelaide, Australia. she is the drummer and singer for local Berlin bands Kara Delik and Restless and has worked as a freelance drummer with Laura Lee and The Jettes and Anika, Crowbaby and Hachiku. Eilis has performed throughout Europe, the UK and Australia and has played support for Los Bitchos, Patience, White Hand Gibbon, Golden Disko Ship, Saroos and Eyse (Savages).
Lyhre is a Berlin-based multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer and singer-songwriter who debuted in Netflix’s Élite. Her work got Cannes Soundtrack recognition. She opens for international acts like Isabel LaRosa, ÄTNA, Just Mustard and gets regularly praised by critics for her live performance and musical direction. Classically trained, her transdisciplinary work spans multimedia, theater, and research, composing at Volksbühne Berlin, Staatsschauspiel Dresden and re:publica among others. Recently Lyhre joined Ircam Academy Paris. She opened the Listen to Berlin Awards 2025 and played Reeperbahn Festival 2025, where she was noted as »real discovery« by Hamburger Abendblatt. From posthuman feminism to hard-hitting, genre-bending dark pop: Lyhre melds her husky voice, while pounding the keys of the piano, with alternative, electronic, and classical influences—lauded by Earmilk as »pushing boundaries and evolving into a new era« for all so-constructed misfits.
To attend the concerts a festival ticket is required.
